Approve and publish a version

How a Ptally version moves from draft to approved to published, what each status means for live quotes, and where to see the version history.

Every version goes through the same lifecycle: draft, approved, then published. Each status change is recorded with who made it and when.

Approve a draft

When a draft is ready, open it and click Approve version at the top of the page. Approving locks the model, so it can no longer be edited, and records you as the approver.

Approved versions are live. A quote that does not name a specific version uses the latest approved or published version.

Publish

Open the approved version and click Publish version. The What changed panel now shows who created, approved and published the version, and when.

Version 2 after publishing, with the full history recorded

You can unpublish a published version and publish it again later. Every move is recorded.

See every version

The Versions list on the project page shows each version with its number, reference, summary, status and date.

The full audit log, covering every action by every user, is in settings. See Manage users and API keys.

Good practice

  • Run the tests and review any changed results before approving.
  • Write a clear summary on every draft, so the history explains itself.
  • Have a different person approve from the one who made the change, where your process requires it.
